I tweeted my pick for the Thursday Night Football game. My twitter is @WilliamBotchway and here is my pick:
PANTHERS (+3) over Giants.
Of course now I'm 0-3 on early week games and 14-16-3 on the season. Also, I have Cam Newton in one of my fantasy leagues. But thankfully, in my most important league, I have....ANDRE BROWN!
"UPSET ALERT" next to games in which I think the underdog will win outright, not only cover. Also, home team in CAPS.
Rams (+7.5) over BEARS. The Bears looked terrible 10 days against the Packers, and the Rams have looked like a sneaky good team for two weeks. They put up a good fight against the Lions and they beat RGIII.
Bills (-3) over BROWNS. It seems that C.J. Spiller is the best RB in the NFL all of a sudden. That's cool. Trent Richardson is pretty good himself, but the Bills are just so much better than the Browns.
Buccaneers (+8) over COWBOYS. No respect for Tampa here. They looked great fro 3 quarters against the G-Men before Eli Manning morphed into Peyton Manning/John Elway/Joe Montana/Dan Marino/Brett Favre/Tom Brady hybrid. The Cowboys are always inconsistent and you never know when they will screw up or play well. It's asinine if I pick them to cover his enormous spread. UPSET ALERT.
Lions (-4) over TITANS. Boy, did Tennessee look terrible last week. Boy, did Tennessee look terrible the week before. The Lions haven't looked too hot so far this year either, so I'll just go with the better team, and that is by far the Detroit Lions.
COLTS (-3) over Jaguars. The Jags lost to Christian Ponder. They will never be forgiven for that terrible crime against humanity. Andrew Luck is worlds ahead of Blaine Gabbert.
Jets (-2.5) over DOLPHINS. My Jets aren't even that good, but neither are the Dolphins. The better team, the Jets. This game won't be too interesting. At all.
49ers (-7) over VIKINGS. The Niners covered the spread of 7 against Detroit last week. Let me just say this: Detroit > Minnesota.
Chiefs (+8.5) over SAINTS. Disaster on disaster here. The Chiefs have been blown out twice, but the Saints defense is beyond atrocious. Also, Drew Brees and the rest of the offense doesn't look that good.
Bengals (+3) over REDSKINS. Two teams that I don't know what to think about. The losses of Orakpo and Carriker are humongous problems for Washington's defense. UPSET ALERT.
CARDINALS (+3.5) over Eagles. The Iggles can't keep winning when they repeatedly turn the ball over. In fact, the Cards defense knows how to make plays, and their secondary will cause problems for Vick. UPSET ALERT.
Falcons (+3) over Chargers. Why in the world are the Chargers the favorites? There is no way that the Chargers will go 3-0. They're the Chargers! They can't possibly start the season strong. They must go 2-5 before reeling off a winning streak and falling short. Atlanta looked good in Week 1, but disappointed on Monday night. I expected them to do better offensively and take advantage of Denver's turnovers. Either way, they are the better team. UPSET ALERT.
Texans (-2) over BRONCOS. This should be another really good game and a good test for Peyton Manning. Reviving the old AFC South rivalry, the Texans are just a better team.
Steelers (-4) over RAIDERS. The Raiders are bad.
RAVENS (-2.5) over Patriots. The Pats offense looked all out of sorts against a good defense in the Cardinals. The Ravens defense is pretty good too, so they could struggle. This should be a fun game because the Patriots have a much improved defensive unit.
Packers (-3.5) over SEAHAWKS. I'm not going to pick against Aaron Rodgers, but the Seahawks are a much better team than people think. They will fight a good fight, but eventually come up short. The Green Bay defense actually looked good last time out, and that could stifle the young QB on the other side.
Last Week: 7-6-3
This Week: 0-1
Season: 14-16-3
