It's hard to drum up the courage to write these weekly previews when I know that the end result is always going to be the same: Jets lose.
Geno Smith is going to be the starting quarterback tonight. Woo! After sitting on the bench for the last few weeks, which we can all hope helped to get his head together, and after the way Michael Vick looked against Buffalo, Smith has to be an upgrade at this point.
Yes, I just said that Geno Smith is an upgrade.
This entire quarterback situation is a mess, and we want Simms.
There is a very good chance that the Dolphins roll on through MetLife and kill the Jets on the back of Ryan Tannehill and his pretty good receiving corps. But, it's hard to make that pick when the game is in New York. The Jets are great at running the ball, and great at stopping the run, even though Wilkerson's injury is a huge blow for this week. Teams that have two areas at which they are elite aren't easy to beat at home.
But whether it's close or not, I feel comfortable predicting another Jets loss tonight, as they keep pace with the Buccaneers in the race to see who gets their pick of Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota in the 2015 Draft.
This season is getting old, quickly.
Bold and Unnecessary Predictions That I'm Making Anyway
- Ryan Tannehill throws for 300 yards and 2 TDs. This is the best way to move the ball on the Jets, and the Dolphins should have success.
- The Jets will sack Ryan Tannehill 4 times. With Ju'Wuan James possibly out tonight, the Dolphins will be weak on the edges.
Dolphins 26, Jets 20.
